Power-2-gas (P2G) in the power generation industry
Storage of unused renewable energy
- Process control instrumentation for hydrogen applications
- CT flowmeters and metering systems for hydrogen and mix gas transportation grids
- Leak detection systems
Power to gas converts the generated green electric power into hydrogen or methane, so that these fuels can be transported and stored for later use. By electrolysis, the electricity is used to split water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen, the two components. The hydrogen can be fed directly into an existing gas grid, up to a maximum of around 2%. Higher hydrogen concentrations can be used separately by specially adapted boilers and gas turbines. When it is required to convert and feed in larger quantities of renewable electricity, the hydrogen produced can be converted to methane (by reaction with CO2) in a second step.
